Summary of the School Council Meeting Minutes from June 13, 2024

The last School Council meeting on June 13, 2024, addressed several agenda items. Here is a summary of the discussions and decisions made during this meeting:
- Update of the Student Code of Conduct : Validation of the changes discussed in the school council and CSD.
- Health and Sexuality Education Program: Three sessions per year of sexual education for all secondary students. The program will be adapted based on a questionnaire given to students. Need for volunteer staff and ongoing training for teachers and school nurse.
- Anti-Bullying Program (pHARe): Implementation of an internal resource bank and the use of a mailbox to report bullying. Need for trained student mediators to help manage bullying situations.
Training plan: 1 school staff member as a reference trainer; 2 staff members trained in accordance with the Asia-Pacific zone training plan.
- New Measures for 6th and 7th Grade Classes: Creation of need-based groups to teach French and math. Identical program for all groups, with specific skills and selection criteria for each term.
- Video Surveillance: Request from parent representatives as a deterrent tool to prevent misconduct and help resolve incidents such as theft, bullying, violence, and vandalism. Majority vote in favor with strict supervision and limits, and consultation on-site, and in a closed circuit.
- Miscellaneous Questions:
Hiring a school psychologist: possibility of hiring a professional already on-site (no possibility to sponsor a visa), request to be studied according to the students’ needs.
School trips: the first CSD of the year can serve as a travel commission to quickly study possibilities and seek sponsors if projects exceed the budget.
