As indicated in our previous communications and following the results of the survey carried out concerning school supplies and books, we have asked LDE.fr to create a site for the group purchase of supplies and books for LFI Tokyo families. As a reminder, the textbooks provided by the school will also be available in digital format via PRONOTE for all levels (see decision of the board of directors of March 2023).

Through this link Librairie LDE – Commande en ligne, you will be able to order all or part of the requested supplies and books, free of charge, with the exception of Japanese notebooks (B5 format ruled notebooks – Daïgaku Nôto and 400-square sheets for writing, A4 or B4 format – Genkô Yôshi). 

The site is in French, so we encourage non-French-speaking families to place their order with the help of their children. We also more generally encourage all families to reuse what can be used again in the interest of sustainability. We’ve set up dedicated WhatsApp groups for you to sell or donate books (especially for French and SIA) to families with children in lower grades. Please post your ads on the group dedicated to the class level of the books and delete the ad once the books have been claimed:

Please note that many items can be found in Tokyo, and are sometimes less expensive than in France (e.g.: Pilot Frixion pens). We’ve left the complete supply list,  in case some families choose to buy everything from LDE.fr, saving time and making things easier for newcomers unfamiliar with Japanese brands. 

We’ve also taken the liberty of adding a few items that many of us buy in France (paper to cover books, index cards for studying).

You’ll find attached a quick guide (PDF and video) to place your order (one order per child) imperatively before July 18th. Payment is by credit card and the parcel in your child’s name will be delivered to the school before the start of the school year on September 1. Your child can collect the parcel on the first day of school on presentation of the confirmation e-mail. For this first trial, we won’t be sending the parcels to students’ homes, as this would require significant logistical effort that neither the association’s volunteers or the Lycéé’s staff would be able to provide during such a busy time of year. All students have a locker, which they can use to store part of their parcel on Day 1 if too heavy to bring home.

After July 18th, the LDE.fr website will close and reopen in August, but shipping cost will be added as it will be too late to benefit from the group rate, so we encourage everyone to place their order as soon as possible.

This is the first year we have introduced this service, and we thank you for your patience and constructive criticism, so we can look to improve the following year.
